This role is with Polybee, a startup supported by SGInnovate.
Background
Polybee is reducing uncertainty in fresh produce agriculture with autonomous pollination and yield forecasts using drones and AI. This can unlock over $20B+ in value to farmers through increased yields and reduced waste. Polybee’s autonomous drone pollination can improve yields by up to 20% while accurate forecasts improve profitability through efficiency in harvesting and informed pricing.
Polybee’s product is already live and scaling up at the biggest growers in ANZ, and they're now making progress with multiple fresh produce giants in the US. Polybee is a Singapore and Melbourne-based startup backed by Temasek Foundation, SEEDS Capital, elev8 VC among others.
Job scope
Product Opportunity Analysis
- Investigate operational and product problems and convert vague issues into structured problem statements.
- Break down ambiguous workflows and identify friction points, inefficiencies, unmet needs, and high-value opportunities.
- Form hypotheses about why a problem exists, what drives it, and where product intervention could create meaningful value.
- Analyse the likely impact of potential solutions and help determine which problems are worth solving.
- Perform competitor analysis, at minimum from a product, workflow, and UI perspective.
Product Concept Development
- Translate messy operational challenges into clear product concepts that engineering teams can evaluate and build.
- Write structured problem briefs, user stories, and clear concept notes describing the problem, context, solution direction, and expected value.
- Create simple wireframes, diagrams, and workflow visuals using tools such as Figma, Balsamiq, or similar.
- Think through product behaviour in detail, including edge cases, corner cases, and operational exceptions.
- Define test cases at a product level to help validate expected behaviour and ensure solution concepts are thought through properly.
- Communicate and present product conceptualizations clearly and fluently to engineering, leadership, and clients.
Client and Workflow Understanding
- Talk to internal teams and clients to understand how work actually happens in practice.
- Hold structured conversations with clients to uncover their operational problems, constraints, and unmet needs.
- Travel to client sites when needed to observe workflows firsthand and ground product thinking in reality.
- Build rapport and trusted working relationships with clients so feedback is candid, detailed, and useful.
Product Adoption, Feedback and Validation
- Designing methods to track correct adoption of the product by the users and propose improvements backed by insights from data.
- Demo built features to clients and internal stakeholders in a clear and structured way.
- Collect structured client feedback on product ideas and shipped capabilities.
- Synthesize feedback into actionable product insights, refinements, and follow-up opportunities.
- Use available data, analytics, and workflow observations to validate hypotheses and sharpen product thinking.
Backlog and Product Coordination
- Help structure and prioritize the backlog based on product value and clarity of opportunity.
- Ensure promising ideas are articulated clearly enough for engineering teams to evaluate and execute effectively.
- Work closely with technical teams to refine concepts into well-scoped product thinking without losing sight of user value.
Here’s What We’re Looking For
- Structured problem solving: Strong ability to break down ambiguous problems and think clearly about root causes, trade-offs, and solution options.
- Analytical thinking: Strong analytical reasoning and the ability to evaluate product opportunities in a disciplined way.
- Business reasoning: Ability to judge whether a problem is meaningful and whether solving it is likely to create real user and business value.
- Product conceptualization: Ability to convert vague ideas into clear product concepts, user stories, wireframes, and product thinking that others can act on.
- Wireframing and diagrams: Ability to draw clear wireframes and product diagrams using Figma, Balsamiq, or similar tools.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to present ideas clearly and hold structured conversations with clients.
- Client engagement: Ability to demo features, engage clients in useful product conversations, and collect feedback in a structured manner.
- Edge-case thinking: Ability to anticipate corner cases, unusual user behaviour, and product edge cases.
- Competitor analysis: Ability to assess competitor products and interfaces to identify patterns, gaps, and useful benchmarks.
- Domain learning: Ability to quickly learn complex operational domains and understand how users actually work.
- Product analytics: Experience with product analytics tools such as Mixpanel, Amplitude, or equivalent is useful.
- BI tools: Ability to analyse data using PowerBI, Metabase, Tableau, or similar tools. SQL is useful but not mandatory if the candidate can effectively use BI tools.
- Technical collaboration: Comfort working closely with engineering teams and discussing concepts, user stories, and test cases in a structured way.
