This role supports students with special educational needs within an IB World Continuum School, therefore helping them access the full curriculum and develop academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work under the guidance of the Inclusion department, assisting with individualised support, classroom activities, and social skills development.
Consequently, your empathy, patience, and collaborative approach will directly enable every student to thrive in a diverse, internationally minded community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small‑group support to students with additional learning needs, therefore enabling them to fully participate in classroom activities and access the IB curriculum.
- Assist class teachers in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting learning materials to meet the needs of students with SEN.
- Support students with emotional, behavioural, or social difficulties, helping them develop positive relationships and self‑regulation skills.
- Collaborate with the Inclusion team, class teachers, and external specialists (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists) to ensure consistent support for each student.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment, promoting independence and self‑confidence in students.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the Inclusion department to inform planning and intervention.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the Inclusion department, including maintaining student records and preparing learning resources.
- Attend team meetings, professional development sessions, and training as required, upholding Taaleem’s commitment to child safeguarding and welfare.
Requirements And Qualifications
- Relevant experience and qualifications within Inclusion departments (e.g., CACHE Level 3, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
- Proven experience working with children with special educational needs in a school or educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible, creative, and dynamic attitude.
- Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- A clean police check / DBS as required by Taaleem’s safeguarding policy.
