Scrum Master Intern

We are supporting a Chicago-based organizational partner on a governance and strategy review. At JHC Consulting, we do not participate in standard corporate rituals. We do not compile slide decks, nor do we run meeting tours. We compile rigorous, written analyses that challenge the status quo for leadership teams and boards.

We are seeking a Scrum Master Intern to help coordinate our delivery, organize our research processes, and maintain the steady flow of our analytical work. This is a full-time, paid internship position with competitive compensation designed for an emerging practitioner who values the discipline of clear thinking and structured delivery.

The role

In this role, you will help coordinate our internal research and writing cycles. Unlike traditional agile environments that focus on software delivery, our cycles focus on the production of analytical memoranda. You will facilitate our weekly progress reviews, track the progress of our written drafts, and ensure our internal analytical sprints maintain momentum.

You will monitor the timeline of our mandates, capture key decisions from partner sessions, and help manage the documentation pipeline. Your focus will be on removing administrative friction so our advisors can focus on deep reading and writing. Key tasks include managing our internal planning board, tracking research deadlines, and ensuring each draft undergoes its scheduled peer review cycles.

What you bring

• You do not need years of corporate experience, but you must possess high intellectual maturity and strong organizational skills.
• You are highly organized, pay close attention to detail, and understand the core principles of agile coordination, even if your experience comes from academic projects or initial coursework.
• Clear, direct written and verbal communication is essential, as you will interact directly with our senior principals.
• You have the ability to read complex material, identify gaps in timelines or research paths, and voice constructive criticism.
• A background in business, project management, operations, or a humanities field that requires intense structured writing is beneficial.

Working at

JHC Consulting This position is structured as a hybrid arrangement. You will split your time between focused, independent work and structured in-person collaboration sessions with our senior leadership. This hybrid model allows for deep, undisturbed reading and planning while ensuring you receive close, direct mentorship during our regular working sessions.

We work deliberately and respect focused time, avoiding constant messaging and unnecessary calls. At JHC Consulting, the work we produce is designed to stand as a permanent record of serious thought. We accept only a few mandates each quarter to ensure our analysts and interns have the space to do their best work.
