Role Description
This is a full-time, remote/field-based role for a Business Development Specialist based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The role involves generating leads, conducting market research, and identifying new business opportunities. You will build and maintain client relationships, conduct meetings, and work closely with the Pakistan team to align strategies and identify growth prospects.
The position demands strong communication & technical skills and the ability to analyze market trends to drive business growth effectively.
Nadeem Corporation is seeking an experienced and somewhat connected Business Development Executive to represent our paper and board business in Sri Lanka. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the Sri Lankan paper industry, possess a network of importers and buyers, and be capable of independently developing new business opportunities.
This is a field-oriented role requiring regular travel within Sri Lanka to conduct client meetings, maintain relationships, identify new opportunities, and support sales growth across our product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Strong Lead Generation and Market Research skills to identify growth opportunities and potential clients
- Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills to develop and maintain long-term client relationships
- Schedule and conduct face to face meetings with customers
- Develop and maintain relationships with paper, board, newsprint, and waste paper importers.
- Gather market intelligence on pricing, competition, demand trends, and import activity.
- Introduce new customers and maintain regular follow-ups to convert opportunities into sales.
- Coordinate with the company's export and sales teams regarding inquiries, quotations, orders, and customer requirements.
- Maintain records of meetings, opportunities, and sales activities through weekly reporting.
- Attend industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities when required.
- Accompany and facilitate visiting team members or suppliers with meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in either Sinhalese or Tamil, (but have basic knowledge of both ideally.)
- Sri Lankan citizen
- Proven experience in Sri Lanka's paper, board, newsprint, waste paper, packaging, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of paper grades, board products, newsprint, and waste paper markets.
- Existing relationships with major importers, converters, printers, packaging companies, paper traders, or distributors.
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads and close commercial deals.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively for customer meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in paper trading, paper imports, waste paper procurement, or related B2B sales.
- Familiarity with key paper and board importers operating in Sri Lanka.
- Existing network within the paper and packaging industry.
Performance Expectations

Employment Terms
- This is a full-time position.
- The selected candidate may be engaged as an independent contractor; however, the engagement will be exclusive to Nadeem Corporation.
- The candidate shall not represent, consult for, be employed by, or provide services to any other paper, board, newsprint, waste paper, or competing trading business during the term of engagement without prior written approval from Nadeem Corporation.
- Any conflict of interest, undisclosed competing engagement, or breach of the exclusivity requirement may result in immediate termination of the contract.
- Colombo-based candidates are preferred due to proximity to key importers, converters, traders, and industry stakeholders.
- Frequent travel within Sri Lanka is required to conduct customer meetings and business development activities.
