Edgars is seeking an experienced full-time Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in driving our continued growth. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of a respected, award-winning planning and heritage consultancy, working alongside a talented and ambitious team.
In this role, you will combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery—identifying opportunities, leading bids, and building lasting partnerships. In your first year, you will be supported to deliver £2 million of new and repeat business, aligned with our commitment to excellence and long-term client value.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a strategic business development plan aligned with company growth ambitions
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across target sectors
- Build trusted, collaborative relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders
- Lead the preparation of high-quality, compelling bids and proposals
- Deliver engaging presentations that clearly communicate value and expertise
- Manage and maintain a robust sales pipeline, ensuring consistent progress and conversion
- Provide clear and honest insight on opportunities, risks, and commercial decisions
- Support the development of marketing collateral and thought leadership content
- Lead and contribute to business development initiatives and events
- Maintain awareness of market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
- Contribute to the Management Team, helping shape wider business strategy
- What We’re Looking For Proven experience in business development within planning, heritage, architecture, or a related sector
- Strong and active network of industry contacts
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and build trust
- A collaborative mindset, with experience working across multidisciplinary teams
- Confidence to challenge constructively and provide candid insight
- Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-driven approach
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and bid-writing skills
- Curious and forward-looking, with a genuine interest in industry trends and innovation
- Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
