About This Role
As an Area Sales Manager, you will support the Regional Sales Manager in driving dealer performance across your assigned area (NSW & ACT)You will take ownership of a portfolio of dealerships (typically smaller or developing dealers), ensuring execution of sales strategies, improving operational discipline, and delivering consistent sales growth.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role, ideal for someone looking to step up within an OEM environment.
Key responsibilities
- Dealer Performance Execution
- Support dealerships in achieving retail, wholesale, and KPI targets
- Work closely with dealer sales teams to drive daily/weekly execution
- Identify performance gaps and implement action plans with dealers
- Monitor pipeline, conversion, and sales activity to ensure momentum
- Dealer Relationship & Support
- Build strong working relationships with dealer sales managers and frontline teams
- Act as the first point of contact for assigned dealers on operational matters
- Provide hands-on support to improve showroom performance and customer experience
- Escalate key risks and issues to the Regional Sales Manager
- Sales Operations & Reporting
- Track and analyse sales data, stock levels, and dealer KPIsPrepare regular reports and insights for the Regional Sales Manager
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting from dealerships
- Support forecasting, order planning, and stock management
- Support the development and execution of dealer business plans
- Program & Strategy Execution
- Support implementation of national sales campaigns, incentives, and programs
- Ensure dealer compliance with OEM standards, dealer agreements, and brand requirements
- Assist in rolling out new product launches and sales initiatives
- Work with marketing and aftersales teams to support local execution
- Training & Capability Development
- Support dealer training on product knowledge, sales processes, and systems
- Reinforce OEM standards and sales discipline at dealership level
- Coach dealer teams on basic sales skills, pipeline management, and customer engagement
- Market Intelligence & Feedback
- Monitor local market trends, competitor activity, and dealer feedback
- Provide timely insights to Regional Sales Manager and HQIdentify opportunities to improve market penetration and dealer performance
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in automotive sales, dealership operations, or OEM environment
- Strong understanding of automotive retail operations and dealership networks.
- High level of execution, attention to detail, and accountability
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Ability to influence and build relationships with dealer stakeholders
- Proactive, hands-on, and solutions-oriented mindset
- Willingness to travel frequently within the region
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyse and interpret sales data, financial reports, and market research
- Proven ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, high-performance, and rapidly evolving environment
