Tafelmusik is entering an exciting phase of renewal and growth. As the organization prepares for its milestone 50th anniversary in 2028/29, it is investing in initiatives that will develop and grow long-term audiences for its mainstage concert season in Toronto, and advance its profile internationally.
Position Summary
The Marketing & Content Manager is the creative and content engine of Tafelmusik’s marketing department. This role owns content calendar oversight, print production management, editorial newsletters, and organic social media strategy and execution—ensuring that Tafelmusik’s voice is consistent, compelling, and well-coordinated across every channel: digital, print and in person.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications and working in close collaboration with the
Digital Marketing & Audience Development Manager and Marketing & Communications Coordinator, the Marketing & Content Manager is a skilled communicator and data-informed creative thinker who brings strong editorial instincts, a genuine passion for the performing arts, and the project management discipline to keep a busy marketing department running smoothly.
This role is the connective tissue between strategy and execution, translating campaign goals into content that engages and grows Tafelmusik’s audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Calendar
- Own and manage the department’s master content calendar, spanning email newsletters, organic social media, print, announcements, and web.
- Develop and plan content in collaboration with the Director and the broader marketing team, ensuring all channels are aligned with campaign goals and branding.
- Set up and maintain institutional (evergreen) and concert-specific campaign projects in Asana, coordinating tasks and timelines across the team.
- Ensure all content is produced and distributed in compliance with Tafelmusik’s brand guidelines and style standards.
Print Materials & Production Management
- Own the production and delivery of all print materials including house programs for concerts, advertisements, posters, postcards, signage, brochures, and subscription packages.
- Manage direct mail campaigns for subscription and single ticket initiatives: coordinating with printers and mail houses, overseeing list building in collaboration with the Digital Marketing & Audience Development Manager, and managing production budgets.
- Brief the freelance graphic designer on print projects, manage revision cycles, and oversee approvals through to final delivery.
- Maintain the archive of all print materials.
- Manage and update Tafelmusik’s outdoor signage for Trinty-St. Paul’s Centre and other venues as required.
Editorial e-Newsletters
- Own the strategy, editorial planning, execution, and reporting/analytics of Tafelmusik’s monthly enewsletter, including writing copy, curating content (in collaboration with the artistic and development departments), coordinating images, and managing approval workflows.
- Work with the Marketing & Content Coordinator on newsletter build and deployment in WordFly, ensuring accuracy, brand compliance, and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with the Digital Marketing & Audience Development Manager on list segmentation, campaign/appeal tracking, and analytics/reporting for e-newsletter communications.
- Manage the e-newsletter calendar in coordination with the broader content calendar and across all departments, which includes sales emails, development appeals, and education program correspondence.
Organic Social Media
- Own Tafelmusik’s organic social media strategy, execution, and reporting/analytics across all platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Develop, write, and schedule content in alignment with organizational goals; curate images and video assets in collaboration with the team and freelance content creators.
- Manage the relationship with freelancers, including briefing, approvals, and budget oversight.
- Coordinate behind-the-scenes and concert day content capture; manage artist and partner tagging, approvals, and community engagement.
- Monitor trends, audience activity, and comments; escalate issues as needed and report on metrics to inform ongoing content development.
- Work in close collaboration with the Digital Marketing & Audience Development Manager to ensure organic and paid social strategies are complementary.
Budget Management
- Maintain print production and mailing expense budgets; process invoices and participate in quarterly estimates and year-end reconciliation.
- Managing of vendor and contractor relationships.
Concerts & Events
- The successful candidate will be expected to work some evenings and weekends, including attendance at concerts and special events.
Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum three years of experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably within a performing arts, cultural, or not-for-profit organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in social media strategy and content management, including working with independent content creators, and using content management systems (e.g., Loomly, Sprout, Hootsuite).
- Strong writing and editorial skills, with experience producing copy across multiple channels and formats
- Experience managing print production workflows, including vendor coordination, timelines, and budget oversight
- Experience in email marketing platforms (e.g., WordFly, MailChimp) and working knowledge of CASL compliance requirements
- Familiarity with CRM or ticketing software (e.g., Tessitura or equivalent)
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines; experience with Asana or similar tools an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Analytics, and WordPress
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable managing approvals and liaising with vendors, artists, and senior stakeholders
- Pro-active, collaborative, and solutions-oriented professional manner
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 30lbs
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Desirable
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for classical music and the performing arts scene in the GTA
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop or Canva
- Knowledge of WordPress and basic website content management
Terms of Employment
This is a full-time position with regular in-person presence at Tafelmusik’s Toronto office required. Hybrid options may be discussed. Some evening and weekend work is expected in connection with concerts and events.

Compensation and benefits
Salary range $55,000–65,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include healthcare, vacation pay, sick leave and personal time, and a retirement program that activates after several years with the organization.
