About the job

The role is responsible for managing the financial performance analysis for the Asia region covering: Hong Kong, Singapore, PRC and Japan.

With a demonstrated record of good business acumen and process management, the candidate is expected to provide business partnering support to all Stakeholders including: National Practice Group Heads, Partners, Lawyers and Business Support colleagues.

Reports to: Financial Reporting and Analysis Manager, AsiaMain duties and responsibilities:

• Financial Performance AnalysisThe candidate will be required to utilise various resources and produce regular reports to monitor the strengths and weaknesses of the Firm’s performance.

In order for him or her to communicate the findings across, the candidate will also be required to prepare monthly (or Ad-Hoc as when needed) financial performance information packs so that the results can be communicated across to the key stakeholders.

For example, some of the areas covered could be: Management Accounts, Performance Metrics Analysis, Financial Modelling, Profitability Analysis across the Practice Groups in the region.

• Business Planning and BudgetingThe role will be actively involved in the production of annual budgets for each of the countries in the region, and will be responsible for ensuring that all planning activities are completed to the specified deadlines through appropriate co-ordination of actions between the partners in each practice groups and the business support managers.
• Business Proposals and Pricing SupportThe role will assist in the preparation of detailed financial modelling on various business proposals including but not limited to those for supporting the election of new partners or the hire of lateral partners. He/she will also provide profitability analysis for partners during their course of client pitching for new matters or pricing review.
• Other Ad-Hoc Support and Process ImprovementThe candidate will have visuals to a wide range of information of the firm (including accounting records). Therefore, that person will be expected to have the relevant skills and be able to make good use of technologies to help all stakeholders in need.

He or she should also pro-actively identify areas for improvement or raise concerns so that together as a team we can provide solutions to the Firm.

Key Relationships:

The role has a direct reporting line to the Finance Manager. There will be a need for interaction with colleagues from other regions such as the Group Reporting and Financial Systems Support teams in London or Finance teams from other offices.

Qualifications

• University degree
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of working experience
• Previous hands on experience in FP&A working in a commercially focused business organisation in a service industry would be highly regarded (work experience in a law firm not essential).
• Previous experience of working in an organisation across different jurisdictions and cultures would be a distinct advantage.
• Technical/Work-based Skills/Knowledge:
• Financial modelling with special emphasis on proficiency in the use of MS Office.
• Candidate should be comfortable working with pivot tables, data sorting and graphing.
• Able to use advanced technologies to make use of data will be appreciated such as: AI, coding for data handling.
• Ability to adapt to new financial systems environment.
• Prior experience working with Elite 3E is an advantage.
• High degree of professionalism and accuracy of work.
• Ability to interact with partners and senior managers.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, Cantonese and good Mandarin language skills.
