Inventory AccountantJob Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Inventory Accountant to manage and monitor inventory-related accounting activities across the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, reconciling stock movements, analysing variances, and ensuring compliance with financial and operational procedures.
This role works closely with warehouse, purchasing, procurement, finance, and operations teams to support effective inventory control and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting records and ensure proper stock valuation.
- Perform regular inventory reconciliations between physical stock and accounting systems.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, variances, and stock adjustments.
- Monitor inventory costs, landed costs, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Monitor stock movements, adjustments, and inventory transfers.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to inventory.
- Prepare inventory reports, analysis, and financial summaries for management.
- Support stock counts, cycle counts, and annual audits.
- Work closely with purchasing, warehouse, and operations teams to improve inventory accuracy and stock control processes.
- Track slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged stock and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal control procedures.
- Assist in developing and improving inventory management and reporting processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation for inventory transactions and adjustments.
- Support ERP and accounting system updates and inventory-related process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in inventory accounting, stock control, or cost accounting.
- Experience working in retail, FMCG, manufacturing, or distribution environments is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, accounting procedures, and stock valuation.
- Strong understanding of inventory systems and ERP software.
- Experience using ERP or accounting systems such as Odoo, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies.
- Experience working with high-volume stock environments.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of inventory forecasting and supply chain operations.
- Familiarity with inventory audits, cycle counts, and warehouse coordination processes.
- Experience improving inventory reporting workflows and operational efficiencies.
Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
