Overview
Join a leading international bank in Hong Kong as a Financial Accounting Manager within the Finance & Administration Department, taking ownership of financial control and reporting for the Branch. This role is ideal for an experienced banking finance professional who enjoys leading a small team, strengthening controls and partnering with senior management on financial and tax matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Financial Accounting team to ensure accurate books and records, strong financial controls and high‑quality daily finance operations.
- Oversee end‑to‑end financial accounting processes and statutory/management reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (including Japanese GAAP/IFRS), local regulations and group policies.
- Manage and prioritise the team’s operational processes, defining a roadmap to enhance efficiency, standardisation and alignment with regional and group practices.
- Review and analyse financial and management information to support senior management decision‑making, including key financial and analytical parameters.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors on audit readiness, information requests and follow‑up of audit findings, and manage tax reporting with external tax advisers and authorities to ensure compliance.
- Provide technical accounting support to business units, maintain and update finance policies and procedures, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to implement robust financial controls across the Branch.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking or related disciplines.
- 8–10 years’ relevant experience in financial accounting / financial control within financial institutions.
- Recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. HKICPA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent) preferred; audit background is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Japanese GAAP, IFRS and Hong Kong tax regulations is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, control mindset and ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, auditors and external advisors.
