Hartland International School are seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics (Secondary) to join our team on a maternity cover contract commencing 17 August 2026 till October half term.

The successful candidate will also be expected to make a contribution to our unique and strong enrichment programme which ensures that learning and opportunity are diverse for all.
Mathematics at our school is taught across all Key Stages with a focus on foundational skills, high achievement, and a passion for problem-solving. In Years 7 to 9 (Key Stage 3), we offer a carefully structured curriculum that builds essential mathematical skills, with differentiated support to meet varied learning needs.
Every student engages with core content, ensuring a solid mathematical foundation for all abilities.
In Key Stage 4, students follow the Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A Higher syllabus. For our top performing Year 11 students, we offer the AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics, giving them early exposure to advanced concepts. The mathematics department consistently delivers outstanding results, with 100% of students achieving Grade 4 or higher and 75% achieving Grade 6 or higher.
Key Stage 5 offers students Edexcel A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, with a strong focus on mechanics modules. Mathematics is among the most popular subjects in Year 12, where we run four separate A-level classes to support our students’ diverse interests and ambitions.
Our department has eight dedicated Mathematics classrooms, each equipped with interactive whiteboards and wall-mounted whiteboard surfaces that encourage collaborative, multi-step problem-solving. Here, students tackle complex problems together, fostering connections between topics and reinforcing critical thinking skills.
Beyond the classroom, we offer a range of extra-curricular activities that include extension clubs, puzzle clubs, and preparatory sessions for external competitions such as the UKMT and Maths Olympiads. These experiences enrich students’ understanding, inspire a love for mathematics, and empower them to excel both academically and competitively.
