We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Assistant Montessori Guide who is passionate about supporting young children during their most important years of development.
Position Overview
We are looking for a full-time/part-time Assistant Montessori Guide to join our team. The Assistant Guide works closely with the Lead Montessori Guide to support children ages 1–3 years in a prepared Montessori environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, values respectful relationships with children, and is eager to grow professionally within the Montessori community.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Guide in implementing the Montessori philosophy and daily classroom routines
- Prepare, maintain, and care for the Montessori environment and materials
- Observe children's development and contribute to documentation and record-keeping
- Provide individualized support while encouraging independence and self-confidence
- Assist with classroom management and promote a peaceful, respectful community
- Support children's daily care routines, including toileting, handwashing, meals, and rest time
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment
- Communicate professionally and warmly with families and colleagues
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
- Collaborate with the teaching team to support each child's growth and well-being
Qualifications
Required
- Experience working with young children in an early childhood setting
- Strong observation, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing approach to working with children
- Basic understanding of child development
- Ability to lift, carry, and actively engage with young children throughout the day
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Preferred
Montessori training or experience in a Montessori classroomECE units or coursework in Early Childhood EducationExperience working with toddlers (ages 1–3)Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Japanese, or other languages are welcomed)
