Founding Full-Stack Developer

Compensation

$150K-$250K base salary + meaningful early-stage equity

Join VizCo, an innovative seed-stage startup based in San Francisco, co-founded by MIT and Stanford PhDs. We are on a mission to bridge the gap in enterprise AI adoption by addressing the challenges companies face with strict data policies and the capabilities of next-generation AI solutions.

As a Founding Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building our product and infrastructure from the ground up. This isn't just another engineering position; you will face challenges head-on, with high expectations, and have a significant influence on our product, architecture, and overall direction of the company.

Your responsibilities will include

• Building full-stack product experiences across backend and frontend systems.
• Designing and operating production infrastructure in Azure.
• Working on systems related to enterprise AI, data governance, security, policy enforcement, and auditability.
• Improving deployment, reliability, observability, and scalability of our systems.
• Collaborating directly with founders, customers, and fellow engineers.
• Making architectural decisions that will shape the technical foundation of the company.

While we primarily work in Microsoft Azure, experience with AWS or GCP is also valuable.

We are looking for

• Extensive expertise in TypeScript and Python.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills across both backend and frontend.
• Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience, including the design, deployment, and management of production systems.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, scaling, reliability, observability, and contemporary deployment practices.
• A strong sense of product development and engineering judgment.
• High execution velocity and comfort navigating ambiguity.
• Prior experience in small teams, startups, research labs, or high-ownership environments.
• Evidence of original thinking, such as personal projects, open-source contributions, technical writing, or unique work experiences that showcase your approach to problem-solving.
• A genuine enthusiasm for working in person in San Francisco.

Success in this role looks like

In your initial weeks, you'll immerse yourself in our product, codebase, Azure environment, and development processes. You'll begin fortifying deployment fundamentals and adding meaningful enhancements.

In the months that follow, you'll take ownership of and deliver key product features, enhance our architecture for scalability, and elevate the engineering standards through your strong judgment, execution, and ownership.

We meet every morning in SoMa for synchronization, planning, and brainstorming sessions. Afterward, engineers typically work from the SoMa office, with flexibility to choose environments that maximize productivity.
