REQUIRED
- Strong experience in PHP 8.x and MVC frameworks
- Solid SQL skills and experience with Relational Databases
- Frontend proficiency: JavaScript, Bootstrap, jQuery, HTML, CSS,
- Experience with version control
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment, comfortable navigating and administering a server via config files and command prompt
- Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
- Able to pass a criminal background check (SOC 2 compliant environment)
- Available for occasional/uncommon night/weekend support
NICE TO HAVE
- Understanding of API integrations (RESTful or third-party government/financial APIs)
- Experience with CodeIgniter 4.x
- MariaDB or MySQL
- Git
- AWS EC2 experience including AWS Management Console and/or AWS certifications
- Familiarity with Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) based network administration
- Experience working in or building financial services or SaaS applications

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build, and maintain features for a web-based financial services application used by tax professionals (CPAs, enrolled agents, attorneys) to manage and resolve IRS cases.
- Develop and maintain backend PHP code within the CodeIgniter 4.7 MVC framework.
- Write and optimize SQL queries against a MariaDB/MySQL database.
- Build and maintain frontend components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and jQuery.
- Integrate and maintain API connections to external systems, including IRS-facing APIs.
- Administer and configure the AWS EC2/Amazon Linux 2 server.
- Participate in code reviews, maintain documentation, and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance issues, and server-level problems.
- Collaborate directly with the two co-founders/owners and a small technical team (2 developers).

Small, profitable, SaaS company based in Valencia, CA, in business for 15 years, with a team of 7 people.
Their flagship product is a web-based tax resolution platform used by CPAs, enrolled agents, attorneys, and other tax professionals to manage client IRS cases from start to finish – including transcript monitoring, case strategy, document management, invoicing, and direct API interactions with the IRS. The platform operates in a SOC 2 compliant environment.
This is a small, tight-knit team where every contributor has direct impact on the product and the business.
