Day to Day
As the Director of SEO Strategy, you will be crucial in expanding our global influence by analyzing organic performance metrics and identifying growth opportunities across one of the largest job platforms in the world. This role is designed for a data-driven SEO expert who excels in navigating vast datasets and complex challenges.
You will not only spot trends; you will analyze data deeply to uncover anomalies, evaluate new opportunities, and establish automated reporting systems. Your technical SEO insights will be translated into actionable projects in collaboration with Product Managers and Engineers to implement impactful improvements.
Responsibilities
- Monitor performance constantly: Keep track of Indeed's organic search performance and diagnose complex shifts in rankings, traffic, crawl behavior, indexation, click-through rates, and conversion metrics.
- Conduct granular data analysis: Evaluate SEO performance across various dimensions, including page types, markets, devices, queries, and landing pages.
- Optimize technical SEO: Recommend specific technical improvements related to crawl efficiency, canonicalization, indexing, internal linking, metadata, and schema markup.
- Identify opportunities: Proactively discover and document new content initiatives, metadata enhancements, internal linking strategies, and advanced schema applications.
- Develop reporting and automation: Oversee and enhance weekly performance reports. Implement and manage automated SEO reporting workflows using AI tools and APIs.
- Create documentation and foster collaboration: Write clear Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and engage effectively in SEO and cross-functional meetings with PMs and engineers to drive SEO projects to completion.
- Track impact: Establish metrics to measure the effects of launched changes and perform thorough post-launch analyses to provide feedback to stakeholders.
Skills/Competencies
- A minimum of 14 years of relevant experience; or at least 12 years with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience.
- Extensive experience in managing SEO for large-scale websites with millions of indexed pages, ideally in sectors like online marketplaces, job boards, e-commerce, travel, aggregators, or high-traffic UGC platforms.
- In-depth expertise in technical SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, log file analysis, canonicalization, internal linking, metadata optimization, Schema.org data, and advanced rank tracking software.
- Proficiency with SEO tools and crawlers, including SEOClarity, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Sistrix, Screaming Frog, and custom Python-based crawling solutions.
- Strong background in data analysis techniques including regression, funnel analysis, A/B testing, and impact evaluations, along with intermediate SQL skills for handling large datasets.
- Experience using AI tools and APIs, such as ChatGPT and OpenAI API, to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience crafting PRDs, generating executive reports, and explaining complex SEO concepts to diverse audiences; familiarity with BI and project management tools like Looker, Tableau, and JIRA.

Tier 1 - United States 134,000 - 202,000 USD per year
Tier 2 - United States 150,000 - 224,000 USD per year
Tier 3 - United States 165,000 - 247,000 USD per year
Tier 5 - United States 187,000 - 281,000 USD per year
