Cella is seeking a talented Product Manager of Playback & Video Experience for a premier, global media and entertainment brand. In this high-impact role you will own the playback layer of the streaming funnel-shaping how the video player looks, behaves (e.g., "skip intro" features), and performs.
Positioned right at the intersection of UX and technical media services, you will act as the ultimate systems thinker, ensuring content plays flawlessly while optimizing high-visibility, in-player ad experiences.
Eligible States for Future Conversion: Candidates must reside in one of the following US states for potential full-time conversion consideration (not guaranteed, based on performance/budget): CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, MD, MA, MI, MN, NV, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OR, SC, SD, TX, WV, WI, or WY.
Responsibilities
As the Playback Product Manager, you will lead the strategy, requirements, and execution of video player functionality across a diverse portfolio of streaming platforms. A typical "day in the life" includes:
- Driving the Playback Funnel: Own the video player layer, focusing on user journeys while content is actively playing, including player behavior, interaction features, and seamless ad delivery.
- Roadmap & Feature Prioritization: Align the product roadmap with core business goals by leveraging user feedback, playback data insights, and market opportunities to prioritize features.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Translate complex business objectives and customer needs into detailed user stories and product requirements. Partner directly with UX, Engineering, QA, and Media Services to deliver high-quality, reliable streaming solutions.
- Monetization Support: Partner closely with Ad Operations teams to support seamless integrations, ad-serving measurement, and optimized ad-supported streaming (AVOD) capabilities within the video player experience.
- High-Level Troubleshooting & Tooling: Coordinate with external vendors and technical internal teams to monitor integrations, troubleshoot media pipelines, and ensure robust player performance without writing code.
- Platform Alignment: Provide day-to-day product support and partnership for dedicated platform engineering pods (such as iOS, Android, and CTV/OTT environments) to adapt to shifting operating models.
Qualifications
- Streaming PM Experience: 4+ years of dedicated Product Management experience driving initiatives through cross-functional agile teams, with a proven track record managing end-user media flows and streaming player experiences.
- Technical Fluency: Strong comfort level in highly technical media environments. You must understand media pipelines, integrations, and delivery flows well enough to troubleshoot at a high level alongside engineering teams.
- Video & Ad Technology Toolkit: Hands-on product experience working with modern video players (e.g., THEOplayer) or digital streaming platform tools. Working familiarity with video encoding, media/playback funnels, and ad-serving platforms (e.g., Google Ad Manager, FreeWheel).
- Agile Methodology: Proficient working within Agile frameworks, with daily operational experience using project management tracking tools like Jira.
- Soft Skills & Systems Thinking: Outstanding communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between creative UX designers and technical backend developers. Exceptional attention to detail and high comfort dealing with ambiguity or evolving team structures.
Nice-to-Haves
- Multi-platform playback experience across OTT/CTV environments (Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, Desktop, and Mobile).
- Prior experience operating in a dual-capacity matrix role (owning both a vertical piece of the user funnel and acting as a platform-aligned partner).
- A background directly rooted in entertainment, major streaming services, or broader media environments.
