Senior Product Manager - International Payments

Our International Payments Product team plays a critical role in shaping solutions that support New Zealanders and New Zealand businesses, and we're looking for a Senior Product Manager to help lead the future of our International Payments portfolio.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen a strategically important product portfolio. The initial focus will be supporting ASB’s response to AUSTRAC regulatory reforms and coordinating the resulting changes across the International Payments ecosystem, before progressively taking on broader product strategy and portfolio leadership responsibilities.

You'll serve as the subject matter expert for your portfolio, combining customer insights, market trends, commercial analysis, and stakeholder collaboration to identify opportunities, manage risks, and deliver innovative product enhancements.

You’ll work across the International Payments ecosystem (eg channels, platforms, operations, risk and compliance) to support intersecting transformation initiatives and regulatory changes, identify dependencies, and translate requirements into coordinated changes to products, customer journeys, processes, controls, procedures, technology, and ways of working.

You’ll help ensure impacted teams understand what is changing, why it matters, and how they will be supported through implementation.

About you

We're looking for a commercially minded product leader with strong experience navigating complex product environments and delivering customer-focused outcomes.

You'll BringDeep subject-matter expertise across the international payments ecosystem, including payment infrastructure, correspondent banking, foreign exchange, distribution channels, operations, pricing, controls, and technologies such as SWIFT. Strong strategic problem-solving capability, with experience converting complex customer, regulatory, operational, and commercial challenges into clear product opportunities, strategic choices, and actionable roadmaps.

Demonstrated ability to interpret product performance, profitability, customer, competitor, and market-insight data to identify priorities, shape investment cases, and continuously refine product roadmaps.

Significant experience leading complex regulatory and transformation change within banking, financial services, or payments, including end-to-end impact assessment across products, processes, controls, procedures, technology, operations, and people.

Commercial acumen and strong analytical capability, with confidence using qualitative, quantitative, and financial information to inform decisions, manage portfolio performance, and support sustainable growth.

Excellent stakeholder leadership and influencing skills, with a track record of aligning diverse teams, clarifying ownership, resolving dependencies, and building trusted relationships across business, technology, operations, risk, compliance, and delivery functions. Relevant tertiary or industry qualifications would be advantageous.
