The SQL Developer is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining database solutions that support business applications, reporting systems, and operational processes. This role requires strong expertise in SQL transactional scripting, database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and database maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing complex SQL solutions while ensuring data integrity, system reliability, security, and overall database performance. The SQL Developer will work closely with application developers, business analysts, QA teams, and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable and efficient database solutions aligned with business needs.
Shift: US Business Hours – 6:30 PM – 3:30 AM ISTWhat You’ll DoDatabase Development & SQL Scripting Develop, test, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, cursors, and views. Design and implement transactional SQL scripts to support data processing, automation, and system integrations.
Create and maintain scalable database solutions for business applications and reporting requirements. Implement data validation, error handling, and logging mechanisms within SQL processes.
Database Optimization & Performance Tuning Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis. Analyze and resolve database bottlenecks, locking issues, and performance degradation. Monitor database performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement. Support capacity planning and database scalability initiatives.
Database Maintenance & Administration Perform database maintenance activities including backups, restores, archiving, and integrity checks. Monitor database health to ensure high availability, reliability, and security. Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime. Support database patching, upgrades, and environment maintenance activities as needed.
Data Integration & ETL Support Support ETL processes, data migration, and system integration activities. Collaborate with development and integration teams to support data movement and transformation requirements. Validate data accuracy and integrity during migration and integration processes.
Documentation, Compliance & Collaboration Maintain database documentation, technical specifications, standards, and best practices. Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and company policies. Collaborate with developers, QA teams, business analysts, and stakeholders to support database requirements. Participate in code reviews, testing efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills/Abilities Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a SQL Developer, Database Developer, or in a similar role. Strong hands-on experience with: REST APIs and JSON/XML data handling.
SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Oracle databases T-SQL and/or PL/SQL scripting Stored procedures, triggers, functions, and cursors Transactional SQL scripting Database optimization and performance tuning Query execution plans and indexing strategies Database backup, recovery, and maintenance processes Experience with database monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Knowledge of ETL processes, data integration, and migration concepts. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Significant sitting is required to operate office equipment. Constant use of hands, wrists, and fingers to operate office equipment. Frequent writing and typing for communication purposes. Dexterity required to complete paperwork and operate office equipment.
Constant need for clear hearing and speech to communicate with employees and clients via email, instant messaging, and telephone.
