Common questions
- Do I need an Employment Pass (EP) to work in Singapore?
- Foreign nationals need a valid work pass - Employment Pass (EP, for professionals earning S$5,000+/month), S Pass (for mid-skilled workers), or a Dependant Pass with LOC. Singapore Citizens and PRs can apply for any role. EP applications are processed by MOM and can take 3–8 weeks.
- What is MyCareersFuture and do I need to use it?
- MyCareersFuture (MCF) is the MOM-operated job portal. Employers are required by the Fair Consideration Framework to post roles there for 14 days before hiring foreigners. If you are SC or PR, applying via MCF ensures your application is logged in the FCF system. For EPs, use MCF in addition to LinkedIn and company career pages.
- Which Singapore industries are hiring the most in 2026?
- FinTech and digital banking (DBS, OCBC transformation teams), technology (Google, Meta, Sea Group), biomedical/healthtech, green energy, and logistics tech. The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) actively incentivises tech, sustainability, and financial services - these sectors have the most government-backed hiring tailwinds.
- What is the COMPASS scoring system and how does it affect hiring?
- COMPASS (Complementarity Assessment Framework) is MOM's points system for EP applications, effective 2023. It scores candidates on salary, qualifications, diversity, and firm-level factors. Candidates at or above the 65th percentile for their occupation score maximum salary points. A score of 40+ points passes; below 40 fails. Your recruiter can share where you stand before applying.
