Description
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Enrollment Management and Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management, the Associate Director or Director works closely with the entire enrollment team and the current and prospective student populations, serves as a public representative of Hofstra Law School to chief constituents throughout the country and assists in managing the admissions process.
Duties will include but may not be limited to
- Coordinates reports for admissions, the Hofstra University community, and external accreditation agencies.
- Uses strong database expertise and other tools to assure maintenance of data and process integrity and to effectively and persuasively share information about the annual admissions process for all law programs with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manages all electronic correspondence with prospective and current students in the area of admissions.
- Participates in information and educational programs relating to admissions.
- Formulates plans for marketing and communication programs, including creating and deploying a multi-pronged communications strategy involving both print, web-based, and electronic communications in order to enhance the profile of the school and attract the strongest and most diverse candidates and students.
- Serves as a liaison between the law school and other offices on campus (Office of Information Technology, Development, Student Accounts, Student Employment and Residential Life) on matters relating to admissions.
- Manages our social media networks, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Evaluates admission files for an applicant pool of over 2500.
- Primary responsibility for administering the fellowship application process.
- Assists with expanding the paralegal and new certificate programs by creating a pipeline for students who are in Associate degree programs with a legal focus.
- Coordinates with the Law School Admissions Council to resolve issues that may arise in the application process and systems used to manage it (Unite, Banner, Slate, etc.), and identify where those issues are isolated and where they require additional research or action to resolve.
- Manages in-person appointments and visits with Pre-law advisors and undergraduate pre-law groups to (a) hold information sessions and/or (b) table.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Minimum of four years admissions experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be available for seasonal evening and weekend events.
- Energy, enthusiasm, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated success in motivating students and staff.
- History of working with culturally and ethnically diverse constituents and demonstrated sensitivity to the concerns of candidates from under-represented communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree is preferred.
- Proficiency in Ellucian Banner and LSAC Unite
- Experience with the financial aid process.
