Finance Associate

A growing Venture Capital Firm is looking for a Finance Associate to join as an early finance hire, working closely with an experienced CFO.The business supports a portfolio of early-stage and growth companies, combining finance, governance, operational support and venture scaling. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who wants more than a traditional accounting position.

You will gain exposure across finance operations, reporting, financial modelling, portfolio support, legal and compliance coordination, and HR administration. It is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, ownership and building structure in a fast-moving environment.

Duties

• Maintain actuals vs forecast tracking, reporting files and finance trackers.
• Support budgeting, reforecasting, runway and cashflow tracking.
• Coordinate accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, reconciliations and month-end preparation.
• Work with external accountants and payroll providers, supporting VAT, year-end and statutory reporting coordination.
• Prepare draft monthly reporting packs, Budget vs Actuals reporting, board pack appendices and supporting materials.
• Support internal financial models, scenario planning, portfolio reporting and cap table / equity tracking administration.
• Assist with standard agreements, Docu
• Sign workflows, contract trackers, compliance administration and Companies House processes.
• Support portfolio company reporting, financial model maintenance and founder onboarding activities.
• Ideal candidate profile
• Strong Excel and financial modelling capability.
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting fundamentals.
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero.
• Highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through.
• Strong written communication, documentation and reporting discipline.
• Startup, venture capital, high-growth, exposure would be helpful, but not essential.

• Salary: £40,000 - £43,000.
