We are supporting an innovative, venture-backed engineering business at a pivotal stage of growth.
Having successfully developed and validated its technology, secured initial commercial traction, and established strategic industry partnerships, the business is now entering the next phase of commercial scale-up and is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to lead that journey.
This is not a corporate leadership role.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and hands-on CEO who has personally experienced the realities of building and scaling a technology or engineering business where funding, delivery, customer relationships and growth depended on their leadership and decision-making.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Board, investors, customers and strategic partners to drive commercial growth, strengthen operational capability and build a scalable organisation capable of delivering significant long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the company strategy in partnership with the Board and investors.
- Develop and deliver a scalable operating model capable of supporting significant growth.
- Commercial Growth
- Drive customer acquisition, revenue growth and market expansion.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for innovative engineering products and solutions.
- Build long-term customer relationships and strategic partnerships.
- Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Lead future fundraising activities, including venture capital, strategic investment and grant opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationships with investors and key stakeholders.
- Strategic Partnerships
- Manage and develop strategic relationships with major engineering, manufacturing and industrial partners.
- Lead commercial negotiations and partnership development activities.
- Operational Leadership
- Oversee engineering, operations, project delivery and commercial functions.
- Create scalable processes, governance structures and performance frameworks.
- Ensure the organisation delivers against customer commitments and business objectives.
- Team Development
- Build, mentor and inspire a high-performing team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and execution excellence.
- We are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience as a CEO, Managing Director or equivalent executive leader within a technology, engineering or industrial business.
- Experience scaling an early-stage or growth-stage company through commercial expansion.
- Direct responsibility for fundraising, investor engagement and strategic business growth.
- Experience operating in environments where resources were constrained and business success depended on strong leadership and decision-making.
- Experience commercialising innovative hardware, industrial technology, engineering products or complex technical solutions.
- Direct operational accountability for engineering, manufacturing, project delivery or technology development functions.
- Proven experience managing and commercialising through strategic partnerships with major Tier 1 engineering, manufacturing, industrial or technology organisations.
- Experience navigating joint go-to-market strategies, manufacturing partnerships, licensing agreements, technology transfer or strategic commercial relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen combined with the ability to engage credibly with technical teams, investors and customers.

Location RequirementThis is a full-time on-site leadership position based in South Yorkshire.A visible leadership presence is considered essential to the success of the business and candidates must be willing and able to work on-site on a daily basis.
