We are looking to appoint Science Teaching Assistant to join our high-quality teaching team in the Food Preparation and Nutrition Department. The Science Teaching Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality science education across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a particular focus on nurture groups and students requiring additional intervention.

Working closely with Science teachers, the role involves reinforcing learning in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, delivering targeted support, monitoring student progress, and helping students access the curriculum and achieve their potential. The post holder will also assist with lesson preparation, practical activities, resource organisation, and wider departmental support.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide targeted academic support and intervention for students in KS3 and KS4 Science.
• Reinforce and re-teach key concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate intervention records.
• Support teachers with lesson preparation, practical activities, and classroom organisation.
• Work collaboratively with the Science department to improve student outcomes.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance, and achievement.
• Follow school safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

• A relevant degree is required (e.g., English, Humanities, Information Science, Education).
• A teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS) is not required but will be considered an asset.
• Previous experience in a school (Key Stage 4/5) or University support setting will be an advantage.
• Experience in coaching or tutoring is desirable.

Skills & Competencies

• Digitaly Savvy: Strong knowledge of current AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, etc.) and how they apply to education is critical.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to mentor young adults effectively.
• The ability to build a programme from the ground up, working independently to create resources and schedule support sessions.
• Strong organisational abilities, patience, and the ability to multitask in a busy environment.

• Individual with a keen interest in food and developing food preparation skills.
