About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join a growing technical services team supporting advanced electrical testing and diagnostic equipment across global customer sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, international travel, customer interaction, and solving complex technical challenges. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, and support of sophisticated electrical and electronic testing systems used within the power and utilities sector.
Working closely with customers, engineering teams, and service management, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Service & Technical Support
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of electrical testing equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on relay-controlled, PLC-controlled, and microprocessor-based systems.
- Conduct independent analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Remove, replace, and configure system components as required.
- Verify equipment performance and operational readiness following repairs.
- Prepare detailed service reports documenting findings, repairs, and recommendations.
- Failure Analysis & Engineering Support
- Investigate equipment failures and identify root causes.
- Provide technical feedback and reporting to engineering teams.
- Collaborate with engineering to develop and implement corrective solutions.
- Support product improvement initiatives through field-based observations and analysis.
- Commissioning & Customer Training
- Lead equipment commissioning activities at customer sites.
- Deliver practical and classroom-based customer training programs.
- Develop customer-specific testing procedures and operational guidance.
- Provide training documentation and certification where required.
- Support customers in maximizing equipment performance and reliability.
- Customer & Project Support
- Act as the primary technical point of contact during service engagements.
- Coordinate service schedules and site activities directly with customers.
- Prepare service quotations, upgrade proposals, and cost estimates.
- Support special projects in collaboration with engineering, sales, and management teams.
- Recommend and implement field modifications where appropriate.
Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- Experience2–4 years of experience in electrical or electronic engineering, field service, maintenance, or technical support.
- Experience using electrical diagnostic and testing equipment such as:
- Oscilloscopes
- Multimeters
- Signal generators
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Desirable Experience
- Experience with PLC programming and modification.
- Knowledge of high-voltage and high-current test equipment.
- Experience with Partial Discharge (PD) systems.
- Familiarity with Auto
- CAD.Previous experience supporting customers across multiple international locations.
