Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of electrical power systems and installations, including LV/MV cabling, wiring, lighting, grounding/earthing systems, switchgear, transformers, panels, conduits, and power distribution networks.
- Ensure all materials, equipment, and workmanship comply with project specifications, approved drawings, and applicable electrical power codes and standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE, and local authority regulations).
- Review and assess electrical power shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) related to power systems.
- Witness and verify electrical testing activities, including insulation resistance tests, continuity tests, earth resistance tests, protection relay testing, functional testing of switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and related power equipment.
- Identify deviations, defects, or non-compliance issues and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required.
- Monitor contractor installation works to ensure compliance with approved power system design, safety standards, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, utility representatives, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve site-related technical and power system issues.
- Maintain detailed inspection records and prepare daily and weekly reports using project management systems such as Aconex or similar digital platforms.
- Support final inspection, testing & commissioning, energization, and handover activities, including participation in punch lists and snagging inspections for power systems.
- Ensure all electrical power installations meet safety requirements and operational reliability standards prior to handover.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in electrical power inspection, preferably on building, infrastructure, airport, or large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, installation practices, and relevant standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE, DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, etc.).
Certification as an Electrical Inspector (NFPA, ICC, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Ability to interpret electrical power drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical documents.
Familiarity with safety standards and quality management systems (ISO 9001, OSHA, etc.).
Strong reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary site supervision team.
