Role Description

The Head of Secondary Inclusion is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This role is responsible for designing, leading, and evaluating the whole-school inclusion strategy across the secondary phase, ensuring that all learners, including those with additional needs, are supported to achieve their full potential.

Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing identification and assessment processes, coordinating individualized education plans (IEPs), and monitoring progress through data-informed practices. The role involves coaching and guiding teaching staff on inclusive classroom strategies, differentiation, behavior support, and effective interventions, as well as modeling evidence-based inclusive teaching.

The Head of Secondary Inclusion will collaborate closely with senior leaders, counselors, parents and guardians, external specialists, and relevant regulatory bodies to ensure alignment with school policies and local requirements.

Additional duties include leading professional development related to inclusion, chairing meetings for learner support, and contributing to whole-school improvement planning and accreditation processes.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to champion Equality & Diversity and Diversity & Inclusion in a school setting, ensuring equitable access, representation, and outcomes for all learners.
• Strong Program Management skills to design, implement, and evaluate whole-school inclusion initiatives, intervention programs, and support structures.
• Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and external agencies, and to provide clear written reporting and documentation.
• Demonstrated experience in fostering Employee Engagement through collaborative leadership, coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff in inclusive practices.
• Recognized teaching qualification and relevant degree, with additional specialist training in Special Educational Needs (SEN), inclusion, or related fields (e.g., SENDCo qualification, master’s in inclusive education) strongly preferred.
• Substantial experience in secondary education with a track record of leading or coordinating inclusion, learning support, or pastoral care in an international or diverse school context.
• Strong understanding of assessment, progress tracking, and data analysis to inform interventions and measure the impact of inclusion strategies.
• Familiarity with international curricula and best practices in inclusive education, as well as local UAE regulatory expectations, is an advantage.
