Position Overview
The Lower School Learning Coach provides face-to-face academic support and guidance to students attending the iCademy Learning Hub. Working closely with students individually and in small groups, the Learning Coach supports student understanding, engagement, organization, and progress across core subject areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
The role focuses on helping students access the curriculum, develop foundational academic skills, establish positive learning habits, and achieve academic success while promoting independence, accountability, and confidence. The Learning Coach works collaboratively with teachers, Academic Advisors, parents, and school leadership to ensure students remain engaged, supported, and on track.
The Learning Coach does not replace the classroom teacher and is not responsible for delivering the curriculum. Instead, the role provides targeted academic support, clarification of concepts, reinforcement of learning, and structured guidance aligned to teacher expectations and learning objectives.
Key Responsibilities

- Student Support and Guidance
- Provide face-to-face academic support to students individually and in small groups.
- Support students across English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
- Reinforce teacher instruction and clarify concepts when required.
- Guide students through daily learning activities, assignments, projects, and assessments.
- Encourage students to seek support when needed and become confident, independent learners.
- Support the development of foundational literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills.

- Progress Monitoring and Accountability
- Monitor and record student attendance daily.
- Track student engagement and assignment completion.
- Identify students who may be falling behind and implement timely intervention strategies.
- Follow up with students regarding incomplete work and learning expectations.
- Support students in setting goals and taking ownership of their learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.

- Build positive relationships with students.

- Promote attendance at live classes and school activities.

- Differentiate support according to student needs and ability levels.
- Guide students towards appropriate learning resources and support strategies.
- Assist students in overcoming barriers to learning and developing confidence.
- Collaborate with teachers and Academic Advisors regarding student support needs.
- Support students requiring additional assistance through targeted intervention.

- Assist students in managing their workload and daily learning tasks.
- Reinforce planning and time-management strategies appropriate for younger learners.
- Help students establish productive learning routines.
- Encourage increasing levels of student independence and responsibility.

- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding attendance, engagement, and progress.
- Participate in meetings with teachers and Academic Advisors.
- Support the development and implementation of individual learning plans where appropriate.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency of support and intervention.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Elementary Education, Primary Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching qualification recognized in the UAE
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting Lower School students
- Strong understanding of foundational literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with students individually and in small groups
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, teachers, other colleagues and school leadership
- Ability to maintain a positive and inclusive environment
- Adaptability and problem-solving skills to support diverse learning needs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency with educational learning platforms, technology-enhanced instruction and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
