Merchandising Assistant – Women’s Apparel

Location: New York City Garment District

We are seeking an energetic, highly organized Merchandising Assistant to join our growing women’s apparel team. This is an excellent opportunity to work directly with the Vice President of Merchandising and Director of Sales, supporting one of our company’s key retail accounts.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is looking to grow their career in merchandising and product development.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the VP of Merchandising and Director of Sales on day-to-day account management activities

Communicate daily with our Shanghai merchandising and production teams

Track fit approvals, color approvals, trim approvals, and production milestones to ensure on-time bulk deliveries

Monitor and maintain merchandising calendars, development timelines, and critical path schedules

Attend sample review meetings and fit sessions with the VP of Merchandising

Issue clear and detailed sample comments and follow-up communications

Visit retail stores to evaluate our products, monitor competition, identify trends, and provide market feedback

Assist with product assortment reviews and merchandising presentations

Prepare Excel reports, tracking charts, and PowerPoint presentations as needed

Maintain accurate records and communicate status updates across multiple departments

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in a merchandising, product development, buying, or apparel-related role

Bachelor’s degree required

Strong interest in women’s apparel, fashion, and retail trends

Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related business software

Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and problem-solving abilities

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Ability to work collaboratively with both domestic and overseas teams

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $65,000–$70,000

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Full-time, five days per week in-office position located in New York City’s Garment District
