Project Manager / Estimator

Role Description

Souza Construction has an immediate opening for a Project Manager / Estimator. This is a full-time, on-site position position located in San Luis Obispo, CA. The role involves managing all aspects of heavy civil construction projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, ensuring project compliance and execution.

Key responsibilities include coordinating with field operations, subcontractors and clients, prepare and price change orders, job cost tracking, submittals and billings. Lead with initiative, stay ahead of the work and drive project success while achieving quality performance and project deadlines. Prepare project estimates and associated bid books per agency requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Project Management and ability to lead projects from inception to completion
• Experience in Estimating Heavy Civil projects
• Advanced plan reading and understanding of specs
• Experience coordinating and managing multiple subcontractors simultaneously.
• Skills in expediting to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials
• Knowledge of Inspection processes to maintain quality control and compliance with standards
• Proficiency in Logistics Management to coordinate project operations effectively
• Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, HCSS Heavy Bid/Job, Primavera P6
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and team collaboration capabilities
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred
