The opportunity
We are seeking a commercially focused Management Accountant to join our Finance team at Heathrow. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced, multi-entity environment, responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, controls, and business insight, primarily supporting our Ireland entity.
Working closely with the Financial Controller and senior stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, statutory compliance, and continuous process improvement while providing valuable commercial support to the wider business.
Working hours/days/shiftsMonday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pmHybrid working arrangement: three days based in the office and two days working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and performance packs, including detailed variance analysis and commercial commentary.
- Support the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting activities.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
- Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and a clear audit trail.
- Identify and escalate financial risks, anomalies, and control weaknesses, driving continuous improvement.
- Review payroll postings to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Review weekly payment runs, ensuring compliance with supplier payment policies and delegated authority procedures.
- Support credit control activities, including management of intercompany balances and reconciliations.
- Monitor working capital performance and key cash flow drivers.
- Prepare VAT reconciliations and support submissions through external providers.
- Monitor VAT positions and highlight any material risks or exposures.
- Support corporate tax requirements in collaboration with Group and Tax teams.
- Complete regulatory reporting requirements, including Intra-Stat, ONS, and Payment Practices submissions.
- Prepare audit schedules and act as a key contact during external audits.
- Ensure timely and accurate statutory and regulatory reporting.
- Partner with operational leaders and senior management to provide financial insight and challenge.
- Collaborate with international finance teams and shared service functions.
- Drive improvements across finance processes, controls, and reporting.
- Undertake occasional travel to Head Office and Ireland as required.
What We Are Looking For
Skills & Experience Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Advanced PowerPoint skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Exposure to management reporting, audit, and compliance processes. Experience collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience within the Ireland market is advantageous but not essential. SAP experience desirable. Basware experience desirable.
Qualifications
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA Finalist, or Newly Qualified.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a fast-paced operational finance environment.
