Primary PurposeThis role owns ERP responsibilities from pre-close due diligence through post close integration and stabilization. The M&A ERP Systems Lead leads ERP integration outcomes by defining strategy, scope, timelines, and governance, and by overseeing execution performed by internal technical teams and external implementation partners.
The role is accountable for decision making, risk management, and delivery of ERP integration objectives, rather than hands on system configuration or development.
Major Responsibilities
- Pre Close Due Diligence
- Assess target company ERP landscapes, including platforms, modules, customizations, integrations, and data structures
- Evaluate ERP support for core business processes (e.g., record to report, order to cash, procure to pay, supply chain)
- Identify ERP related risks, constraints, and cost drivers
- Contribute to integration or separation strategy recommendations (e.g., single instance, two-tier, interim solutions)
- Provide ERP input to deal timelines, synergy estimates, and Day 1 readiness planning
- Post Close Integration Planning
- Define ERP target state aligned with business and operating model decisions
- Develop ERP integration or carve out roadmaps, including phases, milestones, and dependencies
- Align ERP plans with Finance, Operations, HR, and other functional workstreams
- Determine scope, sequencing, and resourcing approach (internal teams vs. system integrators)
- Support vendor selection and statement of work development where applicable
- Post Close Integration Execution
- Lead the ERP integration workstream through execution and stabilization
- Govern and coordinate internal technical teams and external implementation partners
- Review and validate solution designs, data migration approaches, and integration strategies
- Ensure Day 1 readiness, cutover planning, and post cutover stabilization
- Track progress, manage risks and issues, and escalate as needed
- Ensure ERP outcomes meet business requirements, control standards, and compliance needs
- Stakeholder & Governance
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary ERP point of contact for M&A initiatives
- Communicate ERP status, risks, and decisions to executive and deal leadership
- Translate business requirements into ERP capabilities and constraints
- Act as a bridge between functional leaders and technical teams
- Support integration governance, decision forums, and executive updates
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Work Experience
- Experience with ERP enabled business processes (Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, etc.)
- Experience defining ERP integration strategies and leading ERP workstreams
- Ability to assess ERP risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs in fast paced M&A environments8 years of experience with ERP systems in complex enterprise environments
- Direct experience supporting M&A integrations and/or carve outs
- Experience with defining project timelines
- Experience with resource time and availability
- Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Solid understanding of ERP architecture, data migration, integrations, and security concepts
- Ability to evaluate and challenge technical designs and vendor recommendations
- Excellent problem-solving skills and techniques
- Comfort collaborating with architects, developers, and infrastructure teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to successfully engage in multiple tasks simultaneously
