Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Inspects and/or repairs chlorine machine, booster pumping stations, reservoirs, meters, streets, drainage systems and sewer systems at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the systems are functioning properly.
- Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, water supply, consumption, etc
- Determines the locations of gas, telephone, power, television, water, and sewer lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation
- Responds to complaints regarding water, wastewater, and road problems; evaluates situation; explains findings to supervisor.
- Contacts residents and business owners in areas where services will be discontinued and explains when services will be shut off and how soon they will be turned back on.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment/tools and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
- Operates light and medium-sized vehicles, construction, and power equipment, such as mechanized broom, jetter/inductor truck, backhoe/loader, excavators, skid steers, man-lift, dump truck and snowplows
- Operates jackhammers, mowers and other small equipment and tools to maintain street and utility systems
- Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including but not limited to pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling, installation, and maintenance of traffic control devices.
- Performs all duties in strict compliance with appropriate safety and security standards.
- Ensures all applicable safety and health rules and regulations are followed.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes
- Participates in the accomplishment of organizational, departmental and workgroup goals and objectives.
- Exhibits a high-level service orientation toward customers and maintains productive working relationships
