Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented UK/Ireland Bookkeeper (Officer / Executive) with hands-on experience in UK bookkeeping, VAT, and reconciliations. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, and supporting compliance requirements while working on UK-based accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
- Banking & Reconciliations
- Perform bank, cash, credit card, and PayPal reconciliations.
- Analyse receipts and payments to ensure correct posting.
- Reconcile Hire Purchase (HP) and bank loan statements.
- Reconcile payroll payments with accounting entries.
- Sales & Purchase Ledger Management
- Record sales invoices and credit notes in accounting software.
- Perform monthly accounts receivable reconciliation with customer statements.
- Record purchase invoices and credit notes in accounting software.
- Perform monthly accounts payable reconciliation with supplier statements.
- VAT & Compliance
- Prepare UK VAT workings and returns.
- Apply correct UK VAT rates and schemes.
- Ensure accurate classification of expenses for VAT purposes.
- Payroll & Documentation
- Post UK payroll journals and reconcile payroll reports with payments.
- Identify and organise financial documents including: Bank statements Credit card statements Sales & purchase invoices Expense invoices Loan/HP statements Payroll reports Software & Tools
- Work on bookkeeping software such as: Xero QuickBooks Sage Bright Books Use document management tools such as: Hubdoc Auto
- Entry Dext Prepare reports and reconciliations using Excel spreadsheets.
