Position Overview
Under supervision, performs responsible technical duties in the operation and maintenance of audio-visualequipment; and performs related duties as required.
The Audio-Visual Technician will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities
- Operates audio-visual equipment, including 16mm movie projectors, tape recorders, compact disk players,slide projectors, videocassette recorders, film strip projectors, and phonographs; provides technical assistanceand direction to teachers and students in the operation of audio-visual equipment; inspects and adjustsequipment to ensure proper operation; performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment;orders and replaces worn out parts on equipment; maintains inventory records of audio-visual equipment andrelated materials; stores audio-visual equipment and distributes equipment to teachers as requested.

Qualifications
- Required Training and Experience:
- Graduation from high school (or G.E.D. equivalent), supplemented by one year of work experience in operatingand maintaining a variety of audio-visual equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Good knowledge of the methods and procedures used in the operation and maintenance ofaudio-visual equipment.
- Ability to provide technical assistance to teachers and students in the proper operation of audio-visualequipment, ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Skill in the operation, care, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment and materials.AUDIO VIDEO TECHPhysical Requirements.
- Light Work: Exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, or up to ten (10)pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects.
- Even though weight offorce moved may be only a negligible amount, a position should be rated as Light Work (1) when it requireswalking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing orpulling of arm controls.
- Conditions of Employment
- As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
- Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency
- Employees are required to live within the geographicboundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residencythroughout their employment with the district.
- Be Fully Vaccinated or Submit to Weekly COVID-19 Testing
- Employees are required to be fullyvaccinated within 30 days of their hire date.
- Full vaccination is defined as at least two weeks afteryour second shot of a two-shot vaccination course, or at least two weeks after a one-shot vaccinationcourse.
- Unvaccinated staff must submit to weekly testing.
