Import Coordinator- Ocean Freight

We are currently seeking an Ocean Import Coordinator with hands-on freight forwarding experience to manage import shipments, coordinate with international partners, and ensure smooth cargo movement from origin to final delivery.

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a high-volume import environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery
• Communicate daily with overseas agents, steamship lines, truckers, warehouses, and customers
• Monitor shipment status and provide timely updates to clients
• Manage shipment documentation and data entry within the company system
• Coordinate customs clearance and delivery appointments
• Resolve shipment issues including delays, holds, demurrage, detention, and delivery challenges
• Work closely with operations, customs brokers, and transportation providers to ensure smooth cargo flow
• Maintain excellent customer service and operational accuracy throughout the shipment lifecycle

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Ocean Import experience within freight forwarding or logistics
• Strong understanding of ocean import processes and international shipping documentation
• Experience handling FCL and/or LCL shipments
• Familiarity with steamship lines, port operations, and drayage coordination
• Knowledge of Incoterms and customs procedures
• Experience with CargoWise or similar TMS platforms preferred
• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operational environment
