Part-Time Study Abroad Program Assistant

Winston House, the College of Arts and Sciences European Study Center in London, serves as a hub for UNC’s study abroad programs and research initiatives across Europe.
The Honors Study Abroad program intern will work under the supervision of the Winston House director, the Honors Carolina director of Global Education and Fellowships, and the faculty directors for Honors London and the Shuford Away Programs to fulfill the responsibilities listed below.
- Provide support for study abroad students at UNC Winston House in London, including coordinating and attending program excursions, providing academic support, ensuring that students act responsibly in their residence, and communicating all emergency situations to the faculty director and leadership team
- Coordinate and attend all student activities and excursions
- Coordinate, communicate itineraries, and attend all entrepreneurship class excursions
- Assist the UNC faculty director with course-related tasks as needed
- Manage records for student internships including filing of students’ internship time sheets and placement information, recording completion of requirements and assignments, and communicating late/incomplete assignments to faculty and WH staff
- Document the students’ London experience, assist with program marketing, and manage the program’s social media presence
- Provide evening office supervision/office hours 2 nights and 1 weekend shift each week
- Other duties assigned by faculty director, director of Honors Global, or Winston House staff
Required Qualifications
- Previous study, employment, travel, or residence in the UK, preferably in London
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate with and relate well to a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to set and manage conflicting priorities, work independently, proactively, and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Google Sheets, Canvas etc.) and knowledge of social media
- Commitment to facilitating students’ learning and cultural experience
- Ability to evaluate emergency situations and respond appropriately
- Undergraduate degree conferred on or before December 2024
Preferred Qualifications
- Residence in London and right to work in the UK
- Previous participant in UNC Honors in London
- Experience leading peers and adult student groups
- Familiarity with and connections within the entrepreneurial ecosystem in London
Duration and How to Apply
Duration of the appointment: January 4 – April 25, 2026. This position is based in London at 3 Bedford Square, WC1B 3RA. Part-time salary £17.5/hour for 20 hours/week for the duration of the program.
