Summary

In this role, you will operate under the guidance of the Software Engineering Management team, employing advanced software engineering techniques to solve complex challenges in power system architectures and power conversion equipment.

You will take charge of a small team of software engineers, supporting all phases of product development from design through implementation and system integration with minimal supervision.

Essential Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate software for new and existing products.
• Interpret customer specifications to define software requirements.
• Provide technical leadership to software developer team members.
• Conduct requirements analysis and software coverage analysis.
• Deliver software use cases and review test procedures for software validation and verification.
• Document existing software products to comply with qualification standards for highly regulated government contracts.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Review project progress and assist with earned value reporting, suggesting technical improvements to enhance engineering efficiency.
• Lead Agile sprint/Kanban teams, including sprint planning and managing workflows using Jira.
• Proactively pursue performance improvements for the software team through automation and process optimization.
• Assist with effort estimation for software bids and proposals.
• Support new programs from initial design through to completion.
• Provide expert guidance on various software engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Coordinate directions with Project and/or System Engineering Department Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in systems software design for power conversion. A Master's degree can substitute for 2 years of experience; alternatively, 10 years of experience may be considered.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret/security clearance.
• Expertise in embedded real-time systems software design.
• Experience with object and service-based software architectures is a plus.
• Proficient in embedded C and C++ programming.
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as RS-232, RS-485, and Ethernet.
• Excellent communication skills for interactions with senior management and customer representatives.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in developing software for highly regulated and safety-critical applications, such as medical or military-grade products.
• Familiarity with control systems and power conversion concepts is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of power electronics and analog circuits is an advantage.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Power Design Engineers, Digital and Analog Engineers, System Engineers, Control System Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers.
• Experience with Python or C# would be beneficial.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $97,000 - $180,000. This range is not a guarantee of compensation, as final offer amounts may vary based on factors like experience and location.
