Joby Aviation
Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most.
At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.
We're seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our quality team as a Quality Assurance Engineer. This position focuses on the continued development of the Quality Management System, Quality Assurance requirements, compliance and regulatory auditing, data analytics and KPIs, and management of the Joby problem-solving process across all sites and all levels of the organization.
You'll support the facilitation of manufacturing, quality, and FAA activities in the development and ongoing approval of Joby's Production Certificate.
You'll lead internal audit development and conduct auditing activities including corrective action management. Your work will involve quality system implementation and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. You'll identify company quality performance metrics and champion continuous improvement efforts with both internal and external customers.
A significant part of your role involves creating and evaluating quality key performance indicators that help us track and improve our operations. You'll communicate with regulatory bodies including the FAA, MIDO, and NTSB to ensure our processes meet all compliance standards.
Managing our Quality Management System will be a core responsibility, working alongside the Head of Quality and the quality management team to ensure alignment of immediate and long-term strategic company goals.
You'll alert the organization to potential issues in time to resolve any adverse effects on our customers, company image, or business reputation. Leading both internal and regulatory audits ensures our processes remain compliant and efficient.
You'll ensure the implementation of world-class quality systems to support our entire product life cycle, with a focus on business results and the prevention and detection of defects at the earliest possible phase.
Providing support on activities, documents, and records requiring Quality Assurance review and approval is part of your day-to-day work. Beyond the technical aspects, you'll build a culture of quality throughout the business by effectively communicating the whys and hows to the team.
Setting goals and objectives for Quality personnel that correlate to company objectives, along with recruitment, supervision, training, and development of Quality team members, rounds out your leadership responsibilities.
You'll need either a Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology, or a minimum of 7 years of experience in a quality role. Previous experience with Quality management systems development, Quality program management, or similar roles is required.
We'd especially value previous people management experience and understanding of FAA Regulations, AS9100, AS9110, AS9145, and ISO9001. A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is desired, with a Black Belt certification being even better.
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $106,700 - $177,000 per year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, and life insurance.
Joby is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
