Position Summary
The Assitant Operations Manager of Warehousing is responsible for leading warehouse operations while championing a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. This position oversees daily warehouse activities, employee performance, training, and safety initiatives to ensure a safe, productive, and efficient work environment.
This position serves as a working leader who balances employee development, operational execution, and regulatory compliance. This role is accountable for maintaining OSHA compliance, reducing workplace incidents, supporting customer requirements, and driving continuous improvement throughout warehouse operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
- Lead and promote a safety-first culture throughout the warehouse.
- Conduct regular facility safety inspections and audits.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee training.
- Maintain safety records, training documentation, and OSHA logs.
- Coordinate emergency response planning and drills.
- Monitor PPE compliance and safe equipment operation.
Warehouse Operations Supervision
- Supervise daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, and shipping activities.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse team members.
- Schedule labor resources to meet operational and customer requirements.
- Monitor productivity, quality, and service levels.
- Ensure accurate inventory management and documentation.
- Address operational issues and implement process improvements.
- Maintain warehouse organization and housekeeping standards.
- Support customer audits and operational reviews.
Employee Leadership & Development
- Train, mentor, and evaluate warehouse employees.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retention efforts.
- Foster employee engagement and teamwork.
- Support company wellness and recognition programs.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain employee training and certification records.
- Prepare safety, productivity, and operational reports.
- Track attendance and staffing needs.
- Manage safety supply and PPE inventories.
- Assist with budget planning and expense control.
- Support compliance and customer documentation requirements.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of warehouse or logistics experience.
- Minimum 1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Safety coordination, OSHA compliance, or EHS experience preferred.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
