Human Resources Specialist

William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to join our team. This is an onsite position located at our Rockford, IL office.

The Human Resource Specialist will play a key role in supporting the efficient operations of our Human Resource Department. This position involves compiling, processing, and maintaining personnel records and assisting with various HR functions, including recruitment and new hire training.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files and documentation.
• Gather personnel records from various departments or employees.
• Respond to common inquiries from applicants and employees regarding policies, benefits, and hiring processes; escalate complex questions to senior HR staff.
• Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of HR files and records.
• Conduct audits of HR files to verify all documentation is collected and properly filed.
• Provide clerical support to the HR department as needed.
• Assist with new hire orientations and onboarding processes.
• Handle queries related to examinations, eligibility, salaries, and benefits.
• Participate in recruitment efforts, including posting job ads and organizing applications.
• Schedule interviews and support the interview process.
• Communicate job acceptance or rejection to applicants.
• Prepare files for new employees.
• Assist in various other HR duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in human resources required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; combination of education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook) and HRIS systems.
• Highly motivated, self-starter with flexibility.
