HR Generalist - Construction Industry (Onsite | Chico, CA)

Our client, a well‑established and growing organization in the construction materials and contracting industry, is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support its California operations.
This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role supporting a unionized workforce in a fast‑paced, operational environment. You will play a key role in driving employee engagement, ensuring compliance with California employment law, and supporting business expansion initiatives.

HR Operations & Employee Relations
Support day‑to‑day HR functions including employee files, reviews, surveys, and compensation administration.
Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on policies, benefits, and employee relations matters.
Investigate workplace concerns while maintaining strict confidentiality.
California Compliance & Labor Relations
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Support reporting requirements (EEO‑1, VETS, and related filings).
Partner with leadership in a unionized environment, supporting collective bargaining agreement administration.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Manage full‑cycle recruiting including postings, interviews, screenings, onboarding, and exit interviews.
Support workforce planning and organizational development initiatives.
HR Systems & Process Improvement
Utilize HRIS and ERP systems to maintain data accuracy.
Contribute to HR process improvements and operational efficiency.
Assist with acquisition integration and expansion efforts.
Must‑Have Qualifications
5+ years of Human Resources experience.
Experience within construction or construction materials environments.
Strong knowledge of California employment laws and compliance regulations.
Experience supporting unionized workforces and collective bargaining agreements.
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR systems.
College degree in HR, Business, or related field.
Professional HR certification (SHRM‑CP, PHR, SHRM‑SCP, SPHR, or California‑specific certification).
Experience with HRIS/ERP systems.
Experience supporting acquisitions or organizational growth initiatives.
