Department Overview

The Electric Operations team at PG&E is dedicated to delivering clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to approximately 16 million residents in Northern and Central California. Our team plays a critical role in maintaining the reliability and resiliency of the electric grid, managing over 100,000 miles of distribution lines and more than 18,000 miles of transmission lines.

We utilize Lean Methodology and visual management to identify and resolve issues, contributing to the continuous improvement of our operations.

Position Summary

As a Senior Operations Data Analyst, you will drive insights through operations data analysis, providing support and responding to data requests from leadership. You will maintain and enhance operational metric databases, ensuring its accuracy and ease of access. In this role, you will identify gaps in data requirements and work toward efficient solutions for timely leadership responses.

• Project Management: Lead data management projects from inception to delivery, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Data Processing: Establish automated routines for data reporting and delivery, ensuring accuracy and data cleansing.
• Data Management: Oversee data extraction and transfer processes to support operational analysis.
• Data Analysis: Utilize statistical tools to generate comprehensive reports, identifying trends and statistical insights.
• Reporting: Craft clear and actionable reports and analyses for various stakeholders.

This position supports hybrid work, allowing for both remote and in-office collaboration at a PG&E facility within the service territory.

PG&E offers a competitive salary range for this position, which varies by factors including experience and location. The projected salary range is as follows:

Bay Area Minimum: $126,000

Bay Area Maximum: $200,000

California Minimum: $120,000

California Maximum: $190,000

This role is also eligible for PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage intricate data analysis projects with minimal supervision, ensuring completion within parameters.
• Design and implement sophisticated data analyses aligned with business objectives, articulating findings clearly.
• Oversee complex data extractions, ensuring accuracy and facilitating data sharing among analysts.
• Conduct detailed data analysis using advanced statistical methodologies to generate impactful reports.
• Provide innovative solutions for enhancing databases through new data sources and improved processes.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and deliver clear, actionable presentations for clients.
• Act as a team leader, mentoring and guiding less experienced analysts.
• Collaborate with senior management to drive informed decisions across functions.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 6 years of relevant job experience.

Desired

• Master's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with utility operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Access, including complex formulas and VBA.
• Advanced skills in SQL (Oracle or Business Objects).
• Experience with Python and related libraries (Pandas, Statsmodels).
• Knowledge of programming languages such as base-SAS, Visual Basic, Perl, or C.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
• Strong problem-solving and influence capabilities.
• Advanced project management skills, capable of leading cross-functional teams.
