Summary
This is a temporary position working in the Human Resources Benefits Department. The Benefits Administrative Assistant will be responsible for assisting the benefits Coordinator with the administration of employee benefits. Additional duties may include providing assistance in other areas of the Human Resources Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- With guidance, ensure that benefits are implemented according to Summary Plan Documents, Company Policies, HIPAA, laws, and regulations.
- Offer and explain company benefits, such as healthcare, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) plans, including open enrollment.
- Conduct benefit-related presentations and meetings.
- Transmit benefit eligibility information and ensure accurate employee premium deductions.
- Be knowledgeable and stay informed of benefit trends as applicable to our workforce.
- Process garnishments.
- Ensure the retention of benefit- and leave-related records.
- Create and nurture professional working relationships with all Company team members (i.e., HR Colleagues, Managers, Forepersons, Safety Coordinators, Payroll, DOT, and Accounting personnel).
- Ability to travel to other Company locations as needed.
- Filing.

- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the Company’s HRMS and record retention applications.
Your Education and Experience
- At minimum, an Associate Degree in Human Resources, or a related field, desired.
- At least 1 year of human resources and benefits in the agriculture industry preferred, that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the position.
Your Language Skills
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and a professional manner with all Company employees, including general labor, administrative, supervisory and management employees and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish required.
Your Mathematical Skills
- Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; apply concepts of basic algebra; and interpret graphs, charts, and tables.
Other
- Travel to Yuma Arizona and other company locations is required about 30%.
- Requires working outside normal business hours and weekends.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Operating a computer, calculator, copier, and typewriter involves repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Entering data by touch requires the ability to hear computer alarms for errors.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Communication with staff members occurs orally, by telephone, email, or in person.
- Must be able to interact professionally with customers and vendors.
- Reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing, and manual dexterity.
- Light to moderate lifting (up to 40 pounds).
- Must be able to visit all Company work areas, including offices, fields, shops, and other locations.
- Driving for extended periods of time.
- Flying to destinations as necessary.
- Staying in hotels or motels for extended or indeterminate periods.
- Working outdoors, including walking and sitting in fields under various weather conditions.
