Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Night Production Supervisor to lead our manufacturing operations during overnight shifts. The Night Production Supervisor (Mechanical Focus) is responsible for leading daily production operations with a strong emphasis on equipment performance, mechanical reliability, and process optimization.
This role supervises production personnel while actively supporting troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, and continuous improvement of processing and packaging systems. The ideal candidate combines leadership capability with a solid technical background to drive operational excellence, minimize downtime, and ensure consistent product quality.
Mechanical Operations & Equipment Performance
- Oversee operation of processing and packaging equipment including mixers, cookers, conveyors, fillers, and automated systems
- Monitor equipment performance, identify inefficiencies, and drive improvements in uptime and reliability
- Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues in real time to minimize downtime
- Partner with Maintenance to coordinate preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective repairs
- Support equipment startups, changeovers, and shutdown procedures
- Analyze equipment trends (downtime, failures, speed loss) and implement improvements to increase OEE
Production Operations Management
- Execute and adjust production schedules based on equipment capacity, labor availability, and material flow
- Ensure proper line setup, calibration, and readiness prior to production runs
- Supervise daily operations across batching, processing, cooking, and packaging
- Drive performance against KPIs including throughput, yield, downtime, and efficiency
Root Cause Analysis & Technical Problem Solving
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for mechanical, operational, and quality issues
- Utilize structured problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, PDCA, DMAIC)
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve chronic equipment failures
Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, SQF/BRC, and USDA/FDA standards
- Maintain sanitary equipment conditions and hygienic design practices
- Ensure compliance with allergen control, CCP monitoring, and sanitation requirements
- Support audit readiness and regulatory inspections
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop production operators with a focus on technical competency
- Train employees on equipment use, troubleshooting techniques, and safety procedures
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
- Coordinate with maintenance technicians and cross-functional teams to resolve issues
Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Enforce OSHA standards, LOTO procedures, and safe equipment practices
- Ensure all machine guarding, safety devices, and controls are functioning properly
- Lead safety investigations related to equipment or mechanical failures
- Maintain a safe and organized production environment
Quality Assurance Collaboration
- Ensure equipment operates within validated process parameters
- Partner with QA to resolve process deviations related to equipment performance
- Verify accuracy of batch records, process controls, and production documentation
Continuous Improvement & Engineering Support
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment efficiency and process capability
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives
- Participate in equipment upgrades, capital projects, and new line installations
- Recommend improvements to SOPs, preventive maintenance programs, and workflows
Documentation & Reporting
- Track and report equipment performance metrics, downtime, and corrective actions
- Ensure accurate completion of production and maintenance logs
- Communicate technical issues and performance trends to management and engineering teams
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing (food or beverage preferred)
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
- Strong foundation in mechanical systems and manufacturing processes
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of industrial equipment and automated production lines
- Experience troubleshooting conveyors, motors, drives, and processing equipment
- Understanding of preventive maintenance systems and reliability principles
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment (troubleshooting level preferred)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production tracking tools
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience preferred

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
