Description
Project 2029 is seeking volunteer Social Media Managers to help grow our online presence, engage supporters, and amplify our mission through strategic digital communication.
This role is ideal for someone who understands social platforms, enjoys creating clear and compelling content, and wants to support a mission driven civic organization working on policy development, democracy, and community engagement.
The Social Media Manager will help ensure that Project 2029's digital channels are active, consistent, values aligned, and structured to support volunteer recruitment, public education, policy content, events, and organizational growth.

- Create and maintain a simple content calendar that supports campaigns, events, volunteer recruitment, public education, newsletters, and announcements.
- Monitor audience engagement and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a professional, timely, values aligned manner.
- Draft captions, short form posts, graphics prompts, campaign language, and platform specific content aligned with Project 2029's tone and brand.
- Use Canva, scheduling tools, analytics tools, or other approved platforms to support consistent publishing and performance tracking.
- Review social media content for formatting consistency, accuracy, accessibility, links, tone, and alignment with approved messaging.
- Coordinate with volunteer leaders to prioritize social media requests, manage posting timelines, and create a simple process for content requests.
- Recommend improvements to social media strategy, audience growth, engagement practices, platform use, content organization, and digital storytelling.
- Create simple documentation so future volunteers can understand posting processes, brand standards, platform access, and content workflows.
Qualifications
- Experience managing social media accounts, digital communications, online campaigns, or community engagement content.
- Comfort working with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Canva, and scheduling or analytics tools.
- Strong eye for clear messaging, visual consistency, audience engagement, and accessible digital communication.
- Ability to translate organizational needs into practical social media content and platform specific posts.
- Comfort collaborating with volunteers, leadership, and nontechnical stakeholders while explaining recommendations in plain language.
- Strong attention to detail, follow through, judgment, and documentation habits.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, volunteer led environment.
- Interest in civic engagement, democracy, public policy, social impact, progressive politics, or community based work.
