Experienced Family Law Paralegal (Part-Time)
About the Position
Perez Law Firm is seeking an experienced, organized, and motivated Family Law Paralegal to join our growing team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of family law experience, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and a strong commitment to providing exceptional client service.
This position is ideal for a skilled paralegal who is comfortable managing family law matters from intake through resolution, drafting legal documents, coordinating with clients, and assisting attorneys with litigation and case management.
Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, as a significant portion of our client base is Spanish-speaking.
Responsibilities
- Draft, prepare, and file family law pleadings, motions, declarations, discovery, judgments, and other legal documents.
- Assist attorneys with all phases of family law matters, including dissolution, custody and visitation, child and spousal support, domestic violence restraining orders, paternity actions, and post-judgment proceedings.
- Manage and maintain case files using Clio Manage and other case management systems.
- Prepare Judicial Council forms, disclosures, discovery requests and responses, and trial preparation materials.
- Coordinate court filings, service of process, and calendaring of deadlines and hearings.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and third-party professionals.
- Conduct legal and factual research as directed by attorneys.
- Organize and review financial documents, records, and evidence for litigation and settlement purposes.
- Schedule appointments, maintain attorney calendars, and assist with general office administration as needed.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum of two (2) years of family law paralegal experience in California.
- Strong knowledge of California family law procedures and Judicial Council forms.
- Experience preparing and managing family law discovery.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and CLIO, case management software.
- Professional references demonstrating reliability, work ethic, and competency.
Preferred
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved or accredited program.
- Experience with Clio Manage.
- Experience with legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
