Join our Electric Engineering division and be part of a team of approximately 2,000 professionals leading the way in electrical engineering standards, system design, testing, controls, investment planning, regulatory compliance, project management, and budgeting. Our group is focused on supporting Electric Operations and delivering complex engineering projects across the organization.
Within this department, the Market and Federal Compliance team operates as part of Compliance Excellence in Electric Engineering Compliance. Our primary goal is to build a culture rooted in compliance for Electric Engineering and Operations, upholding regulatory standards far beyond basic safety and reliability levels.
We oversee ongoing compliance with rules and agreements established by regulatory authorities, including CPUC, CAISO, FERC, and NERC.

Role Overview
As an Expert Electric Compliance and Risk Consultant, your work will span Electric Engineering, Planning, Electric Operations, and the Enterprise NERC Compliance Office, where you will lead and support vital compliance and risk mitigation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support mitigation plan management and tracking with the Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC)
- Work directly with Electric Engineering to develop and improve mitigation plans
- Collaborate with controls verification teams to create test plans and advance NERC compliance efforts
- Lead annual compliance gap assessments and report findings
- Investigate compliance issues related to NERC standards and recommend solutions
- Build and analyze business cases for risk mitigation using data and insights
- Prepare for evolving and new NERC requirement implementation
- Provide subject-matter expertise on NERC compliance for CPUC, OEIS, and CAISO
- Identify and develop new or updated internal controls for compliance requirements
- Write compliance narratives and assemble RSAW (Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets) documentation
- Assist with audit preparation and on-site support for CPUC, WECC, and FERC
- Contribute to development of FERC/NERC policy, focusing on NERC Reliability Standards
- Support processes for the annual CAISO Maintenance Review
Hybrid Work Schedule and Location
- Hybrid work setup: three days a week in the office
- Flexibility in location within the company’s service territory; preferred sites may apply
Compensation Details
Salary will be based on your skills, experience, education, certifications, market value, work location, and internal equity. Most offers are extended at the entry or midpoint of the salary scale.
Salary range
- Minimum Base: $122,000 (Bay Area) / $116,000 (California)
- Mid Base: $158,000 (Bay Area) / $150,000 (California)
- Maximum Base: $194,000 (Bay Area) / $184,000 (California)
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- Seven years of relevant experience
Preferred Background
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP)
- Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
- Leading Professional in Ethics and Compliance (LPEC)
- Experience in Transmission Operations and Planning
- Four years managing compliance or risk programs
- Deep expertise in utility regulations
- Advanced knowledge of internal controls and risk management
- Strong skills in problem-solving, project management, and change management
- Data analysis proficiency with ability to extract actionable business insights
- Excellent communication skills for technical and executive audiences
- Strong influencing and relationship-building capabilities
- Highly flexible and adaptable to regulatory or business changes
