Purpose: The Church Treasurer is responsible to track, organize and report all donations and expenses in a responsible manner. The Treasurer maintains the general ledger so that the ministry of the congregation can be effective.
Requirements
A minimum of three years experience working with accounts payable, general ledger and payroll in a non-profit environment.
- Minimum Associate of Arts degree in related field
- The ability to work well with volunteers and people of all ages
- Quality clerical and computer skills, including Excel spreadsheets and accounting software
- Be bondable
Accountability: The Treasurer is responsible to the Pastor.
Hours: This position is part time and expected to range from 18 to 25 hours per week.
Duties
Maintain the general ledger including monthly journal entries.
- Enter income and contribution data weekly in cooperation with Financial Secretary.
- Generate and mail or email annual giving statements to contributors.
- Pay semi-monthly payroll. Complete Federal and State semi-monthly payments, quarterly reports, annual reports, W2s and 1099s.
- Produce reports for Pastoral Staff, the Financial Secretary, and the Finance Chair as requested and required.
- Receive and answer queries concerning financial matters from authorized staff and committee members. Provide monthly reports to staff and committee members as required.
- Attend monthly evening Finance Committee meetings and present monthly Treasurer’s Report, Balance Sheet, Income and Expense summary and Cash Flow Report.
- Work with the Director of Administrative Services with regards to office and facility expenses as they pertain to various budget line items.
- Prepare the Annual Budget for the Finance Committee’s Approval.
- Produce monthly finance, budget, expenses and income reports for the Preschool. Work with Preschool Director with regards to preschool expenses and income.
- Close books at the end of the year, provide annualized reports, provide Annual Conference reports, and arrange for an annual internal review of financial processes.
Teamwork: As a member of the church’s ministry team, the Treasurer is expected to act as a goodwill ambassador for the church and
- Maintain a cheerful and welcoming presence for all guests on our campus, extend hospitality to all people and let them know we are happy to serve them.
- Stay informed on other church activities so that they can answer questions or refer people to proper persons.
- Encourage families to participate in Church School and other church activities and locations that seem appropriate to their interests
- Serve as a resource to other staff on matters related to the Treasurer’s responsibility and other areas of knowledge of experience.
Other duties may be assigned with the approval of the Senior Pastor.
Pay: $24.00 per hour
