Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid understanding of GAAP principles, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
The Bookkeeper will support corporate accounting functions, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Duties
- Manage and maintain the general ledger, including journal entries and account analysis
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions efficiently
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and other financial tools
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and governmental accounting regulations
- Handle payroll processing and tax-related filings as required
- Conduct account reconciliation tasks to verify data integrity
- Assist with budgeting processes and financial planning activities
- Maintain detailed documentation of all bookkeeping activities for audit purposes
- Handling of conditional and unconditional payment waivers
- Handle and submit prevailing wage reports
Requirements
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of accounting principles including GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries
- Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and financial report writing
- Knowledge of construction accounting is a plus
- Ability to perform 10 key typing accurately for data entry tasks
- Familiarity with accounts payable/receivable processes and payroll management
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate records
- Strong analytical skills for account analysis and account reconciliation tasks
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external auditors
- Prior experience in construction accounting or corporate accounting is preferred
