As we continue to scale, we are expanding our bookkeeping team to support new client onboarding and cleanup work at a high standard.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Senior Bookkeeper – Cleanup & Onboarding to focus primarily on new client intake, cleanup, and catch-up bookkeeping. This role is critical to our success: clean books are the foundation of every tax strategy and advisory recommendation we deliver.

You will take messy, incomplete, or outdated books and turn them into accurate, reconciled, tax-ready financials. Once cleanup is complete, you’ll also support ongoing monthly bookkeeping for select clients.

Key Responsibilities

• New Client Intake & Cleanup (Primary Focus)
• Review and onboard new client bookkeeping files
• Perform historical cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts accurately
• Categorize transactions consistently and according to firm standards
• Identify missing data, discrepancies, or unclear transactions
• Flag issues internally and collaborate with the team to resolve them
• Ensure books are tax-ready and aligned with advisory needs
• Ongoing Bookkeeping Support
• Monthly transaction categorization and reconciliations
• Prepare and support delivery of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet)
• Maintain clean, organized client records
• Support senior accountants and tax strategists as needed
• Process Improvement & Quality Control
• Troubleshoot and resolve flagged bookkeeping issues
• Provide feedback to improve cleanup and onboarding processes
• Help map and optimize workflows for increased efficiency
• Follow QA standards to ensure consistency across all client files

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (required)
• Solid understanding of reconciliations and bookkeeping fundamentals
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to follow documented processes and checklists
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting
• Strong problem-solving mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cleanup or catch-up bookkeeping
• Prior experience in an accounting or tax firm
• Experience with third-party tools integrated with QBO, including:
• Payroll platforms (Gusto, ADP)
• Online banking and bill pay systems (Bill.com)
• POS systems and merchant processors
• Experience working with small business owners
